On Thursday, Lumberjacks of all ages, career paths, majors and interests gathered for the biannual student and alumni career mixer, hosted by Northern Arizona University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Intended to highlight the important work the Lumberjack\nNetwork is doing, NAU Advancement, Career Development and ASNAU worked\ncollaboratively to bring the campus and Flagstaff communities together for this\ninformational, career-focused event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mixer provided an exciting environment for students to\npractice networking and discuss career passions and personal goals with\nvolunteer mentors. Mentors included NAU alumni, staff, administrators and\nFlagstaff community members with a wide range of experiences and careers. Some\nlocal alumni employers also provided information regarding upcoming internship\nopportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NAU alumna Lori Harrison<\/strong>, who graduated in 1999,\nserved as the keynote speaker for the event\u2014sharing her Lumberjack story and\nadvice on how to thrive in the workplace. She advised students to keep their\npossibilities open after graduation and motivated them to aspire for greatness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Students had their resumes reviewed by NAU Career\nDevelopment professionals, and professional headshots were available to all\nattendees. More than 25 alumni gave back to their alma mater by serving as\nmentors to the nearly 70 members of the student Lumberjack community who participated.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another student and alumni career mixer will take place in\nthe spring.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
