Schneider was recognized for making his team feel valued, setting expectations and providing feedback, encouraging career readiness and creating a student-centered work environment that connects with the overall campus community.&nbsp; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Assistant professor in the Department of Geography, Planning and Recreation <strong>Steven Gehrke<\/strong> published \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0966692318307610?dgcid=author\">Operationalizing the neighborhood effects of the built environment on travel behavior<\/a>,\u201d in the Journal of Transport Geography. The article presents a systematic examination of the scaling and zoning effects of built environment measurement in revealed travel mode decisions.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Several faculty from the Center  for Health Equity Research (CHER) collaborated with other NAU professors on  a variety of projects:<ul><li><strong>Ricky Camplain<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Julie A. Baldwin<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Carolyn       Camplain<\/strong>\u00a0from CHER;\u00a0<strong>Meghan Warren<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Monica  R. Lininger<\/strong>\u00a0from the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic       Training; and\u00a0<strong>Robert T. Trotter<\/strong>\u00a0with the Department of       Anthropology wrote an editorial,\u00a0\u201cPhysical Activity in People who are Incarcerated: A Social Justice Issue\u201d published in the Journal of  Physical Activity and Health. The article studies the recreational time of 188 individuals who were in the Coconino County Detention Facility between October 2017 and April 2018.<\/li><li>Ricky Camplain, Carolyn Camplain, Baldwin, Lininger and Trotter published\u00a0\u201cA Survey of Health Disparities, Social Determinants of Health and Converging Morbidities in a County Jail: A Cultural-Ecological Assessment  of Health Conditions in Jail Populations\u201d in the International Journal of       Environmental Research. The research examines the primary results of the  survey data collection that compares the health of county jail  populations in the United States with the general population.<\/li><li>Ricky Camplain, Carolyn Camplain, Baldwin, Warren and Trotter along with\u00a0<strong>Viacheslav Fofanov<\/strong>\u00a0from the School of Informatics, Computing, and Cyber Systems published\u00a0\u201cEpidemiology of Incarceration: Characterizing Jail Incarceration for Public Health Research\u201d in Epidemiology. The study is an early step in understanding jail incarceration as an exposure for future epidemiologic research.       <\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Postdoctoral fellow <strong>George Pro <\/strong>and Ricky Camplain recently completed an independent study of the Yavapai County Detention Center Reach Out program to evaluate characteristics of inmates.\u00a0They found that more than 4,800 incarcerated individuals interacted with Reach Out coordinators in the first year of a three-year program, and many of the participants\u00a0demonstrated\u00a0behavioral health\u00a0characteristics that put them at increased risk for recidivism.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A multi-disciplinary research team with the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/sherc\/\">Southwest Health Equity Research Collaborative<\/a>&nbsp;received a one-year, $374,906 administrative supplement grant from the National Institutes of Health to study diverse caregivers of persons with Alzheimer\u2019s and related dementias living in northern Arizona. The results will be used to reduce health inequities of American Indian, Latino and rural caregivers and develop a multi-level understanding of their needs to promote future policies, practices and research initiatives. PI Baldwin will work&nbsp;with co-investigators&nbsp;<strong>Dorothy Dunn<\/strong>, associate professor in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/nursing\/\">School of Nursing<\/a>,&nbsp;<strong>Evie Garcia<\/strong>, associate professor in the NAU&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/ed-psych\/\">Department of Educational Psychology<\/a>,&nbsp;<strong>Michael McCarthy<\/strong>, associate professor in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/social-work\/\">Department of Social Work<\/a>, and&nbsp;<strong>Heather Williamson<\/strong>, assistant professor for CHER and the <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/occupational-therapy\/\">Occupational Therapy<\/a>&nbsp;department. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Northern Arizona University\u2019s<\/strong> online <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/health-sciences\/public-health-online\/\">bachelor of science in public health<\/a> program was ranked No. 5 by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.collegerank.net\/best-online-bachelors-public-health\/\">College Rank<\/a> for best online public health programs. The program prepares students for careers in hospitals, schools, government health agencies, private industries, and non-governmental organizations.  <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Associate professor of anthropology <strong>Sharon Moses<\/strong> published work in two forensics publications. \u201cForensic Archaeology and the Question of Using Geographic Profiling Methods and \u2018Winthropping,\u2019\u201d chapter 15, was published in Forensic Archaeology: Multidisciplinary Approaches. \u201cCemetery Hoodoo: Culture, Ritual Crime, and Forensic Archaeology\u201d was published in International Forensic Science: Synergy. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Volleyball coach <strong>Ken Murphy<\/strong> set a new win record for head coaches in Lumberjack history when the team won its third straight match against Northern Colorado.
