The 19th<\/sup> Annual Warm Clothing Drive, sponsored by the Classified Staff Advisory Council <\/a>(CSAC) in partnership with the NAU Student Philanthropy Council<\/a>, is being held from Oct. 1 to Oct. 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is an opportunity to donate new and gently used\nclothing items for all ages and genders. Organizers hope to collect heavy\ncoats, gloves, mittens, hats, blankets, socks, sweatshirts and jeans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOur goal is to increase the number of items that we\ncontribute to our community and campus partners,\u201d CSAC president Michele Benedict<\/strong> said. \u201cWe have a wide\nvariety of needs that we know our NAU family can help provide for.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Clothing items will benefit Flagstaff Shelter Services,\nSunshine Rescue Mission, Hope Cottage, Northland Family Help Center and Sharon\nManor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Last year, 19 volunteers collected 1,193 clothing items and 211 food items. These items were sorted and bagged for beneficiaries to pick-up the first week in November. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Non-perishable food items and canned soups also are welcomed\nand will support Louie\u2019s\nCupboard<\/a>, the campus food pantry. Louie\u2019s Cupboard, with support from\nFirst-Generation Programs and Campus Dining, was created to assist students\nwith food costs while in school. Last year, it served more than 200 NAU\nstudents and staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Donations boxes have been placed in campus buildings for convenient drop-off locations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n For more information about the drive, contact Michele\nBenedict at csac.4u@nau.edu<\/a>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
