Mark Montoya<\/strong>, an associate professor in ethnic studies, and <strong>Jennifer Martinez<\/strong>, a professor in the College of the Environment, Forestry, and Natural Sciences and director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/ceias\/mira\/\">Center for Materials Interfaces and Research Application<\/a> (\u00a1MIRA!), were awarded the Pete C. Garcia Victoria Foundation award. This award honors Latinx people in higher education who champion recruitment and degree completion for minority students.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Amit Kumar<\/strong>, an assistant professor of physical therapy, authored the paper \u201cQuality of Home Health Agencies Serving Traditional Medicare vs Medicare Advantage Beneficiaries,\u201d which was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association Network Open. The study takes a cross-sectional approach in answering whether there is a difference for in-home healthcare patients based on their Medicare plan.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Northern Arizona University<\/strong> was featured on Forbes\u2019 inaugural<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/best-employers-by-state\/#301faf09487a\"> list of America\u2019s Best-in-State Employers 2019<\/a>. The list was based on an independent survey from a diverse sampling of more than 80,000 U.S. employees working for employers with at least 500 employees.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Walter Delecki<\/strong>, a clinical professor in the Department of Educational Leadership,\u00a0has been awarded the Geneva Clay Volunteer Award for his service in the Gilbert community in various programs. Delecki has been the superintendent of Gilbert Public Schools for 20 years and has given countless hours back to the community.<\/li>\r\n<li>Silviculture professor <strong>Kristen Waring<\/strong> received a Fullbright U.S. Scholar Award to Canada and Mexico in forestry based on her professional achievement, record of service and demonstration of leadership in her field. Waring is one of more than 800 U.S. citizens to earn a Fulbright this year. Waring will conduct research in both countries in order to connect people and landscapes as they work together towards meeting climate change challenges across North America.<\/li>\r\n<li>Physical therapy and athletic training professor <strong>Monica Lininger<\/strong>, psychological science professors <strong>Heidi Wayment<\/strong> and <strong>Ann Huffman, <\/strong>athletic training professor <strong>Debbie Craig<\/strong> and research specialist <strong>Taylor Lane<\/strong> co-authored <a href=\"https:\/\/natajournals.org\/doi\/pdf\/10.4085\/1062-6050-47-18\">\u201cImproving Concussion-Reporting Behavior in National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Football Players: Evidence for the Applicability of the Socioecological Model for Athletic Trainers<\/a>\u201d in the Journal of Athletic Training. The article investigates the concussion reporting behaviors in Division I Football.<\/li>\r\n<li>Assistant professor in politics and international relations <strong>Stephen Meserve<\/strong> received the Best Information Technology and Politics Article Award from the American Political Science Association for his published work \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/core\/journals\/political-science-research-and-methods\/article\/google-politics-the-political-determinants-of-internet-censorship-in-democracies\/6F84CEAA801343392D58711A480BE9FA\">Google Politics: The Political Determinants of Internet Censorship in Democracies<\/a>.\u201d The award is given to the best article about information technology and politics.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Steven Gehrke<\/strong>, an assistant professor in the Department of Geography, Planning and Recreation, coauthored \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/334372451_Understanding_stated_neighborhood_preferences_The_roles_of_lifecycle_stage_mobility_style_and_lifestyle_aspirations\">Understanding stated neighborhood preferences: The roles of lifecycle stage, mobility style, and lifestyle aspiration<\/a>,\u201d which was featured in Travel Behavior and Society. The article examines what factors determine people\u2019s residential preferences.<\/li>\r\n<li>Communication professor <strong>Kurt Lancaster <\/strong>published \u201cWhat Video-Journalists Can Learn from Alfred Hitchcock\u2019s Cardinal Rule of Filmmaking\u201d in the Journal of Film and Video.
