Northern Arizona University will host the International Boys and Men\u2019s Choral Festival this week, bringing singers from throughout the world to participate in the event at NAU\u2019s School of Music July 9-12. The Flagstaff portion of the festival will conclude with a public concert at 7:30 p.m. on July 12 in Kitt Recital Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Leading\nto the concert, the boys and men\u2019s choirs and individual singers will attend master\nclasses, rehearse and perform with expert conductors. The goal of the festival\nis to honor male singers, promote artistic opportunities and foster\nintercultural understanding and fellowship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nconcert reflects this commitment to art and diversity with selections representing\na wide range of styles. Individual performances include Yip\u2019s Children\u2019s Choir\nof Hong Kong conducted by Ronald Cheung; Michigan\u2019s Boychoir of Ann Arbor conducted\nby John Boonenberg; New Jersey\u2019s Princeton Boychoir conducted by Fred Meads; and\nthe Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus and the Tucson Arizona Young Men\u2019s Ensemble,\nboth conducted by Julian Ackerley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The choirs will combine their voices for the final performance,\nwhich includes classic and contemporary selections such as \u201cCredo\u201d from \u201cMissa\nbrevis Sancti Joannis de Deo\u201c by Franz Joseph Haydn, \u201cAlways Something Sings\u201d\nby Dan Forrest and \u201cLike a Mighty Stream\u201d by Moses Hogan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Event tickets are $22.50 for adults, $15 for seniors and NAU\nemployees and free for children and NAU students with ID. Tickets can be\npurchased online<\/a>, at the\nCentral Ticket Office in the University Union or by calling (928) 523-5661.\nTickets also are available at the door with a $2 surcharge.
