Hodge has previously worked with PathSensors, a biotechnology and environmental testing company, as an expert in chemical and biological threats. <\/li><li>Assistant professor of physics and astronomy <strong>Christopher Edwards<\/strong> was co-author on an article recently published in the peer-reviewed journal Sensors. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/1424-8220\/19\/12\/2669\">Spatially Consistent High-Resolution Land Surface Temperature Mosaics for Thermophysical Mapping of the Mojave Desert<\/a>\u201d discusses new data-fusion techniques that generate mosaics of nighttime and daytime land surface temperatures across large regions. <\/li><li><strong>Crystal Hepp<\/strong>, assistant professor in the School of Informatics, Computing, and Cyber Systems, published a perspective piece in a special issue of\u00a0mSystems, a publication of the American Society for Microbiology. In \u201c<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/msystems.asm.org\/content\/4\/3\/e00119-19\" target=\"_blank\">Towards Translational Epidemiology: Next-Generation Sequencing and Phylogeography as Epidemiological Mainstays<\/a>,\u201d Hepp details research projects that her group collaborates on with county and state public health agencies, where the objective is to identify pathogen source locations with the longer-term goal of implementing proactive interventions.<\/li><li>The <strong>Wall Aquatic Center<\/strong> was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.athleticbusiness.com\/aquatic\/northern-arizona-university-pool-becomes-international-training-destination.html#lightbox\/0\/\">featured in Athletic Business<\/a>. The article highlights the center\u2019s pool as an international training destination and calls it \u201cone of the best high-altitude training sites in the world,\u201d citing the many upgrades the center has received. <\/li><li>Assistant clinical professor in physician assistant studies <strong>Jacob Gubler<\/strong> was elected president of the Arizona State Association of Physician Assistants (ASAPA). Gubler follows in the footsteps of fellow faculty member <strong>Jennifer Feirstein<\/strong>, who now is immediate past president on the ASAPA board. <\/li><li> <strong>Matthew Wangeman<\/strong> of the Institute for Human Development recently attended a Disability Studies Symposium at Eastern Washington University. He plans to host a similar symposium at NAU in the near future to showcase the university\u2019s disability studies program and share its work with others in the field. Wangeman will speak at Midwestern University in Phoenix this month about the importance of rehabilitation professionals taking a disability studies approach with their patients to better understand individual goals of the rehabilitation process. Wangeman\u2019s short documentary about his life through his son\u2019s eyes, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EsVzlyD7ArM&amp;feature=youtu.be\">My Dad Matthew<\/a>,\u201d was released to the public on YouTube in May. <\/li><li>Arizona Business Magazine named <strong>Robert Kellar <\/strong>a 2019 Healthcare Researcher of the Year for his advanced work with developing regenerative medicines in the biotechnology field. Kellar is an associate professor in the Center for Bioengineering Innovation, adjunct faculty member in mechanical engineering and co-director of the bioengineering doctoral program and the Imaging and Histology Core Facility at NAU. <a href=\"https:\/\/ryortho.com\/2019\/06\/robert-kellar-ph-d-named-a-2019-healthcare-researcher-of-the-year\/\">Orthopedics This Week<\/a> also published an article highlighting Kellar. <\/li><li>Assistant professor of practice in the School of Communication <strong>Harun Mehmedinovic<\/strong> was the cinematographer on the climate change documentary \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hbo.com\/documentaries\/ice-on-fire\">Ice on Fire<\/a>.\u201d Leonardo Dicaprio served as a producer on the film, which premiered on HBO this week and will have its world premiere later this month at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.festival-cannes.com\/en\/festival\/films\/ice-on-fire\">Cannes Film Festival<\/a> as an official selection.\u00a0 <\/li><li>The <strong>School of Nursing<\/strong> received accreditation for all its programs for the next 10 years. SON programs include a bachelor\u2019s degree in nursing, a master\u2019s degree in nursing with specialty tracks for nurse generalist and family nurse practitioner, a post-master&#8217;s certificate for family nurse practitioners and a doctorate of nursing practice. <\/li><li><strong>Northern Arizona University <\/strong>was included in a number of national rankings: <ul><li>GraphicDesignDegreeHub.com included NAU in its list of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.graphicdesigndegreehub.com\/best\/visual-communications-programs\/\">Top 20 Best Visual Communication Degree Programs for 2019<\/a>. Determining factors included graduation rate, student-to-faculty ratio, annual tuition rate, regional accreditation and major rankings. <\/li><li>TheBestSchools.org named NAU as having one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/thebestschools.org\/rankings\/best-online-bachelors-health-sciences\/\">30 Best Online Bachelor&#8217;s in Health Sciences Degree Programs<\/a>. Inclusion was based on quality of the program, range of courses provided and school awards, rankings and reputation.<\/li><li>CollegeConsensus.com included NAU on its list of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.collegeconsensus.com\/online\/best-online-business-schools\/\">50 Best Online Undergraduate Business Programs for 2019<\/a>.
