She is one of 19 members, including other\nuniversity presidents, conference commissioners, athletics directors and\nstudent-athletes.<\/li><li>Campus\ndining director <strong>Ben Hartley<\/strong> was one\nof 2019\u2019s Heroes of Everyday Life by the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation. He\nreceived a $5,000 award to be donated in his name, which went to Louie\u2019s\nCupboard.<\/li><li>OnlineColleges.com\nranked <strong>Northern Arizona University<\/strong>\nthird out of almost 1,000 universities in a study assessing online colleges\nthat offer the best financial aid opportunities to students. The rankings\nevaluated schools based on the net price of education, median debt of\ngraduates, average aid award to students, the percent of students receiving\ninstitutional aid and financial aid by income level.<\/li><li>NAU\u2019s\n<strong>Hotel and Restaurant Management program<\/strong>\nranked No. 5 in OnlineDegrees.com\u2019s list of best school to earn a bachelor\u2019s\ndegree in hospitality and culinary online. The rankings were based on tuition,\nstudent-faculty ratio and student services.<\/li><li>The&nbsp;<strong>Women\u2019s and\nGender Studies Program<\/strong>&nbsp;received the&nbsp;Outstanding Achievement &amp; Contribution Organization Award&nbsp;on\nthe Commission on the Status of Women. Several faculty from the program also\nreceived accolades:<ul><li>Program faculty member <strong>Meredith Heller<\/strong> won the&nbsp;SBS Early Career Award.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>Sanjam Ahluwalia<\/strong>&nbsp;won the coveted&nbsp;Axe&nbsp;in\nthe&nbsp;Great Post-Apocalyptic\nSurvival Debate. Ahluwalia persuasively argued that given the intersectional,\ninterdisciplinary and transnational focus of WGS scholarship, this discipline\nwould be well suited to shoulder the greatest responsibility of training the\nnext generation of scientists, politicians, artists and scholars.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>Tyler Barnard<\/strong>, WGS\/ES administrative assistant, won the&nbsp;LGBTQ Commission Award.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/in-the-spotlight-may-17-2019\/\">Kudos to these faculty, staff and programs Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
