The CFP is the organizing body that coordinates the food\nprotection efforts of the USDA, FDA, CDC, state and local health inspectors and\nmembers of academia.<\/li><li>Professor of biological sciences and Ecoss\nresearcher <strong>Ted Schuur<\/strong> co-authored an\narticle published in Nature recently. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/d41586-019-01313-4?utm_source=twt_nnc&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=naturenews&amp;sf211850789=1\">Permafrost\ncollapse is accelerating carbon release<\/a>\u201d focuses on how large swaths of\npermafrost in the Arctic are collapsing and leading to abrupt thaw, a\nphenomenon and feedback current climate models haven&#8217;t accounted for. The\nauthors call for better data gathering, support of global monitoring sites,\nincorporation into reports for policymakers and the development of holistic\nmodels. <\/li><li>Ecoss and SICCS postdoctoral researcher&nbsp;<strong>Bijan\nSeyednasrollah<\/strong>&nbsp;and Ecoss\/SICCS professor&nbsp;<strong>Andrew Richardson<\/strong>&nbsp;have\nlaunched&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0924271619301054?dgcid=author\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">xROI<\/a>, an interactive open-source toolkit that facilitates\nthe process of time series extraction and improves the quality of the final\ndata.<\/li><li><strong>Carly\nBanks<\/strong>, media relations officer for NAU Communications, is one of four <a href=\"https:\/\/www.simpsonscarborough.com\/congratulations-to-the-2019-case-simpsonscarborough-scholars\/\">2019\nCASE SimpsonScarborough Scholars<\/a>. Banks will be provided a full scholarship\nto attend a weeklong institute in Boston in August.
