{"id":5562,"date":"2008-02-07T14:22:44","date_gmt":"2008-02-07T21:22:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=5562"},"modified":"2012-11-19T15:00:17","modified_gmt":"2012-11-19T22:00:17","slug":"gone-with-the-wind-comes-to-campus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/gone-with-the-wind-comes-to-campus\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Gone With the Wind&#8217; comes to campus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Get a good seat for<em>\u00a0Gone With the Wind<\/em>, showing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, during NAU&#8217;s Classic Film Series in the Cline Library Assembly Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by Victor Fleming in 1939, the 222-minute film won eight Academy Awards and is known for its use of color to enhance the production&#8217;s dramatic mood.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0<strong>Joe Boles<\/strong>, director of the series, the use of color in the film is one of the most influential things about it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With\u00a0<em>Gone With the Wind<\/em>, a new Hollywood was wiping out the old with new standards for cinematic realism, for epic scale, for production values and for Technicolor escapism,&#8221; Boles said. &#8220;Production designer William Menzies, more so than even the fabled actors, was the moving force for changing what we saw then to what we see in movies today.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Before the film, professors Boles and\u00a0<strong>Paul Helford<\/strong>\u00a0will share more tidbits about the film&#8217;s production.
