Neumann\u2019s work is a film-poem that takes viewers on a journey across America. The film was selected by a jury including renowned Polish artist, filmmaker and poet Ewa Partum.<\/li>\n<li>English professor <strong>Fredricka Stoller<\/strong> organized for Vietnamese Fulbright scholar Tran Thi Thanh Hue, vice dean of<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-55214 size-square-image alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/wordpresst\/uploads\/sites\/153\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_20190411_094625569-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"Visiting Fulbright scholar in front of NAU sign\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2019\/04\/IMG_20190411_094625569-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2019\/04\/IMG_20190411_094625569-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2019\/04\/IMG_20190411_094625569.jpg 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/> the faculty of foreign languages at An Giang University, to tour NAU. The weeklong trip included meetings with leadership of the Center for International Education and Program in Intensive English and a lecture for doctoral students in applied linguistics, masters students in TESL, undergraduates in the Department of English and visiting students from China and Germany.<\/li>\n<li>A number of faculty members in the Physician Assistant Studies program were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aapa.org\/about\/aapa-awards\/aapa-announces-2019-award-recipients\/?utm_source=linkedin&amp;utm_medium=aapa_post&amp;utm_campaign=news_central\">recognized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA)<\/a>, winning two out of five national awards:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Andy Le<\/strong> and <strong>Linda<\/strong> <strong>Som<\/strong>, who are clinical partners with the PA program,\u00a0won the Preceptor of the Year Award (a joint award from AAPA and the Physician Assistant Education Association) for demonstrating a commitment to excellence in the clinical education of PA students.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bettie Coplan<\/strong> won the Publishing Award as the lead author on \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.lww.com\/jaapa\/Fulltext\/2018\/09000\/Burnout,_job_satisfaction,_and_stress_levels_of.8.aspx\">Burnout, job satisfaction, and stress levels of PAs<\/a>,\u201d published in the Journal of the American Academy of PAs. The paper was highlighted for its original and scientifically rigorous ideas contributing to advancement in the PA profession.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Psychological sciences professors <strong>Heidi Wayment<\/strong> and <strong>Ann Huffman<\/strong>, assistant professor in athletic training <strong>Monica Lininger<\/strong> and doctoral student in interdisciplinary health <strong>Taylor Lane<\/strong> published \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S2468781218304429?via=ihub\">Relationship of athletic and academic identity to concussion reporting intentions<\/a>\u201d in Musculoskeletal Science and Practice. The paper focuses on the potential role self-identity processes play in the intentions to report concussion symptoms.<\/li>\n<li>Criminology and criminal justice professor <strong>Robert Schehr <\/strong>and his German co-author Stefan Harrendorf of Greifswald University presented their research on German and American analyses of wrongful conviction at the University of Zurich\u2019s Legal Science Institute in Switzerland. Schehr is one of 50 legal and social science scholars in their second year of meeting to address problems relating to criminal law and criminal justice in both common law and civil legal systems.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Catherine Lockmiller<\/strong>, health science librarian at Phoenix Biomedical Campus, hosted the community\u2019s first Living Library. The event was similar to the <a href=\"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/the-human-library\/\">Human Library<\/a> with an added focus on health disparities experienced by patients from at-risk populations. Participants included students from NAU\u2019s College of Health and Human Services and other state universities.<\/li>\n<li>Northern Arizona University was included in a number of rankings:\n<ul>\n<li>College Choice ranked NAU in its top 10 of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.collegechoice.net\/rankings\/cheapest-online-mfas-in-creative-writing-degrees\/?preview=true\">Most Affordable Online MFAs in Creative Writing Degrees<\/a>. NAU was chosen for the flexibility, quality and affordability of its program.<\/li>\n<li>Successful Student named NAU one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/successfulstudent.org\/best-online-colleges\/\">Best Online Colleges of 2019<\/a>. Factors considered were quality of academics and faculty, online teaching methods, number and variety of online programs offered, university reputation and available financial aid.<\/li>\n<li>Best Value Schools named NAU one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestvalueschools.com\/best-online-masters-in-secondary-education-degrees\/\">35 Best Online Master\u2019s In Secondary Education Degrees<\/a>. Ratings are based on categories of degree investment return, student and alumni evaluation, cost value, matriculation and academic success.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Faculty members <strong>Laurie Dickson<\/strong>, <strong>Melissa Welker<\/strong>, <strong>Terri Hayes<\/strong> and <strong>Flower Darby<\/strong> won two of five grants from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for their proposals \u201cStudent Success Through Teaching Excellence\u201d <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-55213 size-uncropped-small alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/wordpresst\/uploads\/sites\/153\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/FSConveningMar2019-KLD-MW-TH-FLD-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Gates grant winners\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2019\/04\/FSConveningMar2019-KLD-MW-TH-FLD-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2019\/04\/FSConveningMar2019-KLD-MW-TH-FLD-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2019\/04\/FSConveningMar2019-KLD-MW-TH-FLD-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2019\/04\/FSConveningMar2019-KLD-MW-TH-FLD-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>and \u201cTransforming English Language Learning.\u201d Helping students succeed by better preparing graduate students and faculty to teach with excellence is the common theme of both.
