To be eligible for this award, student-athletes must have participated in at least half the team\u2019s competitions, achieved a minimum 3.2 GPA in their most recent term and completed at least one term at their Big Sky institution. The annual event is played like Jeopardy with 20-30 competing teams. The team will now travel to the national NATA conference to compete against the top 10 teams.<\/li>\n<li>A number of students and some faculty represented the Department of Anthropology at the Society for Applied Anthropology meeting \u201cEngaging Change in Turbulent Times\u201d in Portland, Oregon.\n<ul>\n<li>Graduate students <strong>Natasha Cot\u00e9<\/strong>, <strong>Teahlyn Crow<\/strong>, <strong>Shaylynne Shuler<\/strong>, <strong>Hannah Skalleberg<\/strong>, <strong>Sheryl Nelson<\/strong> and <strong>Bailey Kohlbeck<\/strong> were joined by undergraduate <strong>Omar Gomez<\/strong> in presenting their research.<\/li>\n<li>Professor <strong>Michelle Parsons<\/strong> presented \u201cWhat Makes a Reflective Social Institution,\u201d associate professor and editor of Practicing Anthropology <strong>Lisa Hardy<\/strong> spoke with attendees at a Meet the Editor event and department member <strong>Fritz Lampe<\/strong> coached students, graduates and early career professionals on developing their professional identity as practitioners at the National Association for Practicing Anthropology at the Careers Spotlight.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Master\u2019s student <strong>Evalyne Lengarwa\/Sangari<\/strong>\u2019s documentary \u201cMaasai Remix\u201d premiered at the International Student Pavilion on April 5. The film focuses on how three Parakuyo Maasai individuals are creating solutions to problems facing their community by drawing strength from local traditions, modifying them when necessary and melding them with new resources such as Western schooling and international political movements. The committee was responsible for all aspects of the fashion show including identifying retailers and securing merchandise, reserving Ashurst auditorium to host the event, decoration and prep, interviewing and selecting models, ticket sales and marketing and day-of event management such as lighting and music.
