{"id":55132,"date":"2019-04-16T10:07:00","date_gmt":"2019-04-16T17:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/?p=55132"},"modified":"2019-04-16T10:20:59","modified_gmt":"2019-04-16T17:20:59","slug":"summer-lecture-series-cline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/summer-lecture-series-cline\/","title":{"rendered":"New summer lecture series at Cline Library celebrates Grand Canyon National Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>April 16, 2019<\/p>\n<p>In celebration of Grand Canyon National Park\u2019s Centennial on Feb. 26, Northern Arizona University\u2019s Cline Library, in partnership with Grand Canyon Conservancy, is hosting a summer lecture series to raise awareness of Grand Canyon National Park\u2019s historical and cultural impact on the state and region in the last 100 years. Funding for this summer lecture series was made possible by a grant from Arizona Humanities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The lecture series presents a variety of historical and cultural perspectives offering a depth of understanding and insight into the rich connections of our shared human experience in the context of the Grand Canyon. Each month from April through September, a lecture will be held in the Cline Library Assembly Hall. Scheduled lectures may be found at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/library\/events\/\">https:\/\/nau.edu\/library\/events\/<\/a>. The events are free and open to the public. No tickets are required.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Author and NAU faculty member\u00a0<strong>Annette McGivney\u00a0<\/strong>will speak at 7 p.m. April 26. She will speak about her recent book, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.annettemcgivney.com\/pure-land.html\">Pure Land<\/a>,\u201d and her journey of discovery and exploration of three lives and three cultures connected to the Grand Canyon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe breathtaking and awe-inspiring natural beauty of the canyon draws visitors, but the stories of the people, history and culture of the Grand Canyon inspires deeper connections and understanding,\u201d said <strong>Peter Runge<\/strong>, head of Special Collections and Archives.\u201d We hope you will join us for this exciting opportunity to share the unique stories of Grand Canyon and Grand Canyon National Park.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cline Library focuses on engaging users in the design of discovery, research and learning experiences that advance NAU\u2019s mission and strengthen its diverse community.
