The cup, which the Arizona Board of Regents is sponsoring, is a celebration of free speech, civil discourse and democratic engagement at Arizona\u2019s public universities. It engages students in rigorous debate anchored by respect and civil discourse.<\/p>\n<p>The event itself is Nov. 16, but training, coaching and preparation begin\u00a0now. Students earn course credit and\u00a0compete for scholarships as they participate in this experience.<\/p>\n<p>To apply, students must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be full-time undergraduate or graduate students at NAU<\/li>\n<li>Have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA<\/li>\n<li>Meet NAU&#8217;s expectations for preparation and participation<\/li>\n<li>Participate in the Regents&#8217; Cup<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Twelve students will be selected to participate. They will enroll in POS 485 for the fall semester with\u00a0Gretchen Knudson Gee, a senior lecturer in politics and international affairs, who is coaching the team. The course will focus on preparing students for the Regents&#8217; Cup.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Interested students should contact Gee at <a href=\"mailto:gretchen.gee@nau.edu\">gretchen.gee@nau.edu<\/a> or (928) 523-8104.
