An artist reception will be held at the First Friday Art Walk from 5-7 p.m. Gilbert is a 1985 alumnus of the university\u2019s photography program.<\/li>\n<li>Professor and Associate Chair of English <strong>Donelle Ruwe<\/strong> gave an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.english.uga.edu\/events\/content\/2018\/donelle-ruwe-mediocrity-aesthetics-and-music-girls-long-eighteenth-century\">invited talk<\/a> at the University of Georgia sponsored by the Georgia Colloquium in 18<sup>th<\/sup> and 19<sup>th<\/sup> Century Literature. Ruwe introduced the literary and aesthetic debates incited by the 1814 invention of the chiroplast. Her talk was released this month as the chapter \u201cMediocrity: Mechanical Training and Music for Girls\u201d in the edited collection \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.palgrave.com\/gb\/book\/9783319947365\">Literary Cultures and Eighteenth-Century Childhood<\/a>.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Faculty in the physics and astronomy department, along with some students, produced a number of publications recently:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cristina Thomas<\/strong>, <strong>Annika Gustafsson<\/strong> and <strong>David Trilling<\/strong> were co-authors on \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0019103518307085\">Near-Earth asteroid 2012 TC4 observing campaign: Results from a global planetary defense exercise<\/a>,\u201d published in the scientific journal Icarus. The paper describes a comprehensive telescope campaign to observe the near-Earth asteroid in 2017.<\/li>\n<li>Trilling, Gustafsson and <strong>Andrew McNeill<\/strong> were co-authors on the paper \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/1903.03159\">Constraining the Shape Distribution of Near Earth Objects from Partial Lightcurves<\/a>,\u201d published by Cornell University.<\/li>\n<li>Department chair <strong>Nadine Barlow<\/strong> had a chapter entitled \u201cDatabases and Metadatabases in Planetary Geology\u2014the Mars Crater Database\u201d published in the book \u201cPlanetary Cartography and GIS.\u201d The book is part of the Springer Lecture Notes in Geoinformation and Cartography series.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/successfulstudent.org\/\">Successful Student<\/a> included <strong>Northern Arizona University<\/strong> on its list of Best Online Colleges of 2019. Schools were selected based on the quality of programs, course offerings, faculty, awards, rankings, reputation and overall online education process. NAU was highlighted for providing online students with access to online tutoring, full library access and guidance from professors and advisors.<\/li>\n<li>Study.com ranked <strong>Northern Arizona University<\/strong> in the top 10 on its 2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/study.com\/articles\/most_affordable_colleges.html\">list of Most Affordable Colleges<\/a>. NAU was selected from thousands of<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-54817\" src=\"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/wordpresst\/uploads\/sites\/153\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/unnamed-1-150x150.png\" alt=\"study.com logo\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2019\/03\/unnamed-1-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2019\/03\/unnamed-1-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2019\/03\/unnamed-1-768x768.png 768w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2019\/03\/unnamed-1-600x600.png 600w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2019\/03\/unnamed-1.png 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/> colleges throughout the U.S. for its economical tuition rates, availability of financial aid and work-study, career and academic resources for students, graduation rates and facilities and programs offered.<\/li>\n<li>Professor of humanities <strong>Gioia Woods<\/strong> was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to teach American environmental literature and ecocriticism at the University of Milan.
