The interview is about Lopez Lomong\u2019s journey about being kidnapped and recruited in to be a boy soldier in Sudan\u2019s civil war. After his escape, he became a track star and two-time Olympian. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Ashley Croft <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was named Women\u2019s Golfer of the Week last week by the Big Sky Conference. Croft earned her award when the Lumberjacks competed at the Rebel Beach Invitational in Las Vegas, where she carded 77-77-19 to pace NAU. <\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Junior <\/span><b>Hunter Hazelton <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">had his poem published in the 2018-19 issue of the journal Scribendi. Hazelton previously was published in Shine: Best Arizona Teen Writing of 2016. He also was the 2016 Arizona State Champion in the Poetry Out Loud competition and was a gold medalist in the national Scholastic Art and Writing Competition. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Samantha Jones <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and alumna <\/span><b>Dana DeLuca<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> were recipients of the Arizona Art Education Association awards. The award recognizes exceptional achievement in K-12 art teaching and was presented at the annual AAEA conference. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>NAU<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is one of 12 schools selected to compete at the 2020 Collegiate Wind Competition. During the competition, undergraduate students will develop a project plan based on the wind energy market and siting considerations, design and build a model wind turbine and test their turbine against performance criteria. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Bernie Andre<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was named the Big Sky Conference Men\u2019s Basketball Ready Nutrition Player of the Week. Andre is the first NAU player to receive this award in the past four years. He earned it by averaging 16 points, 14.5 rebounds, shot 52 percent from the field and had a 5-of-5 from charity stripes during the past two games.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applied linguistics Ph.D. candidate <\/span><b>Jihye Shin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> received the Support for Graduate Students Dissertation Award and the Language Learning Dissertation Grant.
