State Street Ballet returns to Northern Arizona University this spring with an original telling of Rudyard Kipling\u2019s timeless tale,\u201cThe Jungle Book.\u201d The choreography of State Street Ballet founder and artistic director Rodney Gustafson and original score by Czech composer and conductor Milan Svoboda bring the characters of the jungle to life, taking audiences on a journey through the jungles and forests of India. \u201cThe Jungle Book\u201d performance takes place at 4 p.m. March 10 in Ardrey Memorial Auditorium.<\/p>\n
Centering on young Mowgli, a boy raised by wildlife, \u201cThe Jungle Book\u201d follows his adventures growing up, learning about the world and meeting a cast of animal friends and foes living in the jungle. The Santa Barbara-based ballet company brings new energy to the classic coming-of-age story through unique music and dynamic movement while preserving the beloved spirit of the original. State Street Ballet premiered its version to enthusiastic audiences, instantly being called a “crowd pleaser,” “a joy to behold” and “visually stunning.”<\/p>\n
Tickets for \u201cThe Jungle Book\u201d range from $5-$35 depending on seat location with discounts available for groups, seniors, children and students.
