Northern Arizona University and the Office of Inclusion<\/a>\u00a0are celebrating Black History month with a variety of events held on campus throughout February, providing an opportunity to celebrate and learn about diverse traditions and culture, reflect on key contributions African-Americans have made to our society and recognize the struggles of past and present.<\/p>\n Kicking things off, Oscar-nominated screenwriter Kevin Willmott will join students for a showing of \u201cBlacKkKlansman<\/a>,\u201d a film he co-wrote, followed by a short lecture and Q&A session on Feb. 1. Other activities include Black History Month movies and discussions, themed Hot Spot lunches and a Civil Rights Spoken Word and Art Slam. The month ends with a lunch featuring author, instructor and sociologist Cameron Khalfani Herman as a guest speaker. Herman studies urban sociology and community development at Michigan State University.<\/p>\n Also happening this month is the grand opening of the new Multicultural and LGBTQIA Office of Inclusion in the Kaibab Room in the University Union.
