Her thesis talks about the photometric properties of the Mastcam-Z calibration targets, which will fly on the Mars 2020 rover.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sociology senior lecturer <\/span><b>Jamie I. Bowie<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, was profiled in Communication Arts magazine\u2019s insights feature. \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.commarts.com\/columns\/bowie\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sociology of Logos<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d discusses how he uses sociology to study logo trends. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Matthew Wangeman<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a member of the Commission of Disability Access and Design and a staff member at the Institute for Human Development, co-wrote \u201cTeaching disability studies and building a community of pedagogy through Facebook,\u201d a chapter in \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.routledge.com\/Interdisciplinary-Approaches-to-Disability-Looking-Towards-the-Future\/Ellis-Garland-Thomson-Kent-Robertson\/p\/book\/9781138484016\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interdisciplinary Approaches to Disability: Looking Towards the Future: Volume 2, 1st Edition<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d The book identifies the practical and theoretical implications of interdisciplinary dialogue and challenges people in disability studies to reflect on their professional practice in terms of theory, practice and methods. Wangeman also has a documentary film \u201cMy Dad\u00a0<\/span>Matthew,\u201d which won its fourth award from a film festival in New Delhi, India.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>David Trilling<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, professor of astronomy, co-wrote \u201cDeep Drilling Fields for Solar System Science\u201d with physics and astronomy assistant professor <\/span><b>Chad Trujillo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and p<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ostdoctoral scholars <\/span><b>Michael Mommert<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Cesar Fuentes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The paper is a proposal of an ecliptic Deep Drilling Field that will discover 10,000 small Kuiper Belt Objects, mostly primitive rock and icy bodies that orbit outside of the solar system. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bachelor\u2019s Degree Center ranked NAU No. 7 in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bachelorsdegreecenter.org\/early-childhood-education-accelerated-program\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">10 Fastest Online <strong>Early Childhood Education Degree Bachelor\u2019s Programs<\/strong> for 2019.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The rankings are based on highest quality and fastest education degree. NAU earned a spot on the list for taking less than 24 months to complete their program. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Amirhossein<\/b> <b>Arzani<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, assistant professor in mechanical engineering, received a grant from the American Heart Association. The AHA Institutional Research Enhancement Award will allow him to study biochemical transport during atherosclerosis, the major form of cardiovascular disease. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Chad Trujillo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, physics and astronomy assistant professor, was in Science Magazine\u2019s \u201c<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencemag.org\/news\/2018\/12\/top-stories-2018-s-top-breakthrough-our-solar-system-s-most-distant-dweller-and\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Top stories: 2018\u2019s top breakthrough, our solar system\u2019s most distant dweller, and pushback on USDA relocation plans<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d He was included for having helped discover the most distant object in the solar system. The tiny dwarf planet is named Farout and is 120 times farther from the sun than Earth is from the sun. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Suzanne Botello<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a psychologist in the Employee Assistance and Wellness Program, received a National Board of Certified Counselors Foundation Approved Clinical Superior Training Award. The scholarship will provide funding to help her get the required training to become an approved clinical supervisor and be better able to work with graduates that need clinical supervision to get their licensing boards.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Three Ecological Restoration Institute staffers wrote chapters in the book \u201cA New Era for Collaborative Forest Management.\u201d <\/span><b>Melanie M. Colavito<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a program coordinator, wrote chapter eight: \u201cUse of Scientific Information to Inform Decision Making on CFLRP Projects.\u201d Director <\/span><b>Amy Waltz<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> co-authored chapter seven: \u201cChallenges and opportunities for collaborative adaptive management in forest landscape restoration.\u201d Program coordinator <\/span><b>Bryce Esch <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">co-authored chapter one: \u201cCollaborative Forest Landscape Restoration in Action: An Overview of the CFLRP cases.\u201d The book looks at a new approach to collaborative forest management. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/in-the-spotlight-jan-18-2019\/\">Kudos to these faculty, staff and programs Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
