The observation consisted of setting up telescopes and data systems in the desert and taking nearly 2,000 frames of an assigned sky band during the timeframe of the occultation.<\/li>\n<li>Four members of the volleyball team were selected for the 2018 All-Big Sky Conference teams. Redshirt senior <strong>Kaylie Jorgenson<\/strong>, junior <strong>Abby Akin<\/strong> and sophomore <strong>Heaven Harris<\/strong> were on the all-conference first team, while freshman <strong>Ryann David<\/strong> was on the second. Jorgenson also was voted the Big Sky Co-Most Valuable Player. David was voted the Conference\u2019s Outstanding Freshman. Since Jorgenson and Harris received that award the previous two seasons, NAU is the first school to have three consecutive awardees in this category.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Molly Shuman-Goodier<\/strong>, graduate student of biological sciences, was awarded the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.setac.org\/page\/SNAAwardsBestStu\">Best Student Platform Presentation Award<\/a> at the annual North American Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry meeting for her talk \u201cInvasive cane toads: Good for something? Developmental assays reveal safety concerns of the common rice herbicide, butachlor.\u201d Students were judged on quality of presentation and research, oral delivery, visual impact and defense of presentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/in-the-student-spotlight-nov-30-2018\/\">Kudos to these students \u00a0Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
