Ken Hunter<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/police\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Northern Arizona University Police Department<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was awarded the Heart of Gold by the Victim Witness Services of Coconino County. Those honoring him expressed their admiration for his \u201ckindness and patience while working through these often painful moments\u201d as paramount to victims\u2019 experiences. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ethnic studies professors<\/span><b> T. Mark Montoya<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Frederick Gooding Jr.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> recently published a chapter in the book \u201c<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.curriculumandpedagogy.org\/docs\/final%20flyer.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Critical Intersections In Contemporary Curriculum &amp; Pedagogy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d Titled &#8220;It Takes a Nation of Millions: How to Freestyle a Hip Hop Curriculum,\u201d Montoya and Gooding examine hip hop\u2019s relevance to academics as a pedagogy innovator and a powerful tool in connecting diverse learning communities. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>NAU<\/strong> is ranked 17th in Online Schools Report&#8217;s list for <a href=\"https:\/\/onlineschoolsreport.com\/best-online-business-administration-degrees\/\">best online business administration bachelor&#8217;s degree programs<\/a>. The rankings are based on program quality, student-to-faulcty ratio, graduation rates, tuition price, acceptance rates and student and alumni satisfaction.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assistant professor of sociology<\/span><b> Katsuya Oi <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is co-author<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the paper \u201cThe developmental origins of health and disease in international perspective,\u201d published in the September issue of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0277953618304209\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social Science &amp; Medicine<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The study examines the variations in the early life origins of health among populations in 13 different countries, examining differences in exposure to poor childhood health and socioeconomic disadvantage, long-term health associations and whether those factors help explain differences among residents of different countries later in life.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Professor <b>Ted Schuur<\/b> of the <a href=\"http:\/\/ecoss.nau.edu\">Center for Ecosystem Science and Society<\/a> is one of 10 U.S. science delegates at the Arctic Science Ministerial meeting in Berlin this week. The delegates aim to establish high-level research collaborations in the Arctic and to respond to shifting geopolitical circumstances as environmental change opens up a new region of Earth.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <strong>School of Hotel and Restaurant Management<\/strong> moved up two spots in this year&#8217;s ranking by CEOWORLD, ranking 10th in the world on the magazine&#8217;s Best Hospitality and Hotel Management Schools. Programs were ranked on brand influence, recruiter responses, employer feedback, job placement rates, admissions eligibility, specialization and academic reputation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>James Allen<\/strong>, executive director of the School of Forestry, was appointed to a three-year term on the National Agricultural Research, Extension, Education, and Economics Advisory Board. This board advises the secretary of agriculture and land-grant colleges and universities about national priorities and policies and contributes to effective agricultural research, education and economics programs.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Northern Arizona University<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was ranked as the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theclassroom.com\/most-applied-to-school-in-each-state-13714809.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">most applied to school in Arizona<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, as well as 35th in the nation for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theclassroom.com\/colleges-with-the-most-applications-data-study.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">colleges with the most applications<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0by TheClassroom.com.
