Akin&#8217;s achievements come after a string of successful matches highlighting her scoring record, hitting average and average kills per set.<\/li>\n<li>Anthropology students <strong>Diane Slocum<\/strong>, <strong>Britt Davis<\/strong>, <strong>Sasha Romih<\/strong>, <strong>Renee Collins<\/strong>, <strong>Steve Fox<\/strong>, <strong>Tia Watkins<\/strong>, <strong>Gavin Wishner<\/strong> and <strong>Katie Tappan<\/strong> presented papers at the 2018 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.saa.org\/Home\/tabid\/36\/Default.aspx\">Society for American Archaeology<\/a> meeting in Washington, D.C. The papers focused on research the students conducted while studying abroad in Belize this summer under the direction of anthropology professor <strong>Jaime Awe<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Doctoral student <strong>Emily James <\/strong>is on the Arizona Republic\u2019s list of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/news\/local\/phoenix\/2018\/09\/10\/whos-next-21-emerging-education-leaders\/1139367002\/\">Who\u2019s Next: 21 educators shaping Arizona\u2019s next generation<\/a>. The \u201cWho\u2019s Next\u201d list is a collection of young professionals working in Arizona and making an impact in their profession. James is a a teacher at Tavan Elementary School in Phoenix and a project leader for the school\u2019s \u201cBe Kind People\u201d initiative, which promotes civility among students.<\/li>\n<li>Doctoral student <strong>Colin Chandler<\/strong> presented at NASA\u2019s &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hou.usra.edu\/meetings\/climatology2018\/\">Comparative Climatology of Terrestrial Planets: From Stars to Surfaces<\/a>\u201d meeting in Houston. Chandler\u2019s presentation, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hou.usra.edu\/meetings\/climatology2018\/pdf\/2026.pdf\">Efficient Atmospheric Model Equilibrium Searching and Assessment<\/a>\u201d showcased new atmospheric model computational techniques and formulated metrics for analyzing model output quality as well as demonstrations of this approach.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/in-the-student-spotlight-sept-14-2018\/\">Kudos to these students Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
