Honor the life and civil rights work of Martin Luther King, Jr. during Northern Arizona University’s 21st annual MLK march and celebration Jan. 21.<\/p>\n
The march will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the University Union information desk and will head to the du Bois Center Ballroom for a student-run program and reception starting at about 5 p.m. The public is invited to these free events.<\/p>\n
This year’s theme, “The Strength of a Word, The Passion of a Dream,” will come to life with student music, skits, poetry and a presentation about other leaders in the civil rights movement.<\/p>\n
“It’s important for students to actively participate in the program so they can be reminded of the struggles and hardships endured during the civil rights movement,” said\u00a0Erica Sanford<\/strong>, a health and human services undergraduate and Black Student Union member who helped organize the event.<\/p>\n Plans are in the works for NAU’s Black History Month celebration in February.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
