It works by introducing an inactivated form of the virus into the body, allowing the immune system to develop antibodies so that later exposure to the live virus results in lessened severity or complete avoidance of sickness caused by influenza.<\/p>\n<p>NAU students and employees, as well as employees\u2019 dependents over age 16 can receive a flu shot from CHS. The cost of the shot is covered by many insurance companies and typically ranges from $25 to $40 for those without insurance. CHS offers shots by appointment at the <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/hlc\/health-and-learning-center\/\">Health and Learning Center<\/a> (HLC) or on a drop-in basis at one of its mobile clinics throughout campus. Bring your insurance card to the flu shot clinic.<\/p>\n<p><u>The schedule for the 2018 mobile clinic is:<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sept. 19:<\/strong> 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Babbitt Administration Center, suite 200 (only open to BAC occupants)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sept. 19: <\/strong>4-7 p.m. at Paws your Stress event (HLC lobby)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sept. 25: <\/strong>1-3 p.m. at Pop-up @ Dubois Center<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oct. 3: <\/strong>10 a.m.-1 p.m. at W. A.
