The seminar\u2019s purpose is to look at the different aspects of fluctuation-induced phenomena and discuss the future and techniques. The presentation Behunin and Chamberlain gave was on fundamental noise in brillouin lasers.<\/li>\n<li>Physics and astronomy assistant professor <strong>Christopher Edwards<\/strong> co-authored \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.geoscienceworld.org\/gsa\/geosphere\/article-standard\/532684\/structural-relationship-between-the-karakoram-and\">Structural relationship between the Karakoram and Longmu Co fault systems, southwestern Tibetan Plateau, revealed by ASTER remote sensing<\/a>,\u201d published by GeoScience World. The paper explores how the fault systems do not intersect and how it affects the Tibetan lithosphere. The article was recently featured on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geosociety.org\/GSA\/News\/pr\/2018\/18-24.aspx\">The Geological Society of America<\/a>\u2019s website.<\/li>\n<li>NAU ranked No. 8 in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greatvaluecolleges.net\/rankings\/online-masters-tesol\/\">Great Value Colleges for an Online Master\u2019s<\/a> in its<strong> teaching<\/strong> <strong>English to speakers of other languages<\/strong> (TESOL) program. The ranking is based on tuition, student-faculty ratio, national recognition and tuition discount for online students.<\/li>\n<li>College Choice ranked NAU\u2019s <strong>Educational Technology<\/strong> program No. 9 in the nation for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.collegechoice.net\/rankings\/best-online-masters-in-educational-technology-degrees\/\">Best Online Master\u2019s in Educational Technology Degrees<\/a>, and \u00a0No. 8 in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.collegechoice.net\/rankings\/cheapest-online-masters-in-educational-technology-degrees\/\">most affordable<\/a> list. The rankings are determined by quality, reputation, affordability, value and satisfaction.<\/li>\n<li>Assistant research professor in the School of Earth and Sustainability and Biological Sciences <strong>Erika Nowak<\/strong> was invited to speak at \u201cSnakebite: From Science to Society.\u201d The conference focused on developing solutions for snakebites. Nowak talked about informing people more on snakes to prevent them from getting bitten.<\/li>\n<li>Comparative cultural studies professor<strong> Jason BeDuhn<\/strong> received a $5,000 seed grant from the American Council of Learned Societies. The awards are given to individual scholars for their research in humanities and related social sciences.
