This honor was the third for Staffeldt, who has finished her career as the most decorated Lumberjack in the program\u2019s history. For Schmidt, this is her first after clocking her qualifying NCAA B cut in the 200-meter butterfly at the Texas Invitational. To be eligible for the honors, individuals must at minimum post either an NCAA B standard time or compete at an NCAA Zone diving meet.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NAU swim and dive program placed 11 freshmen on the Western Athletic Conference All-Academic list. <\/span><b>Natalie Dinch, Lauren Hazel, Niamh McDonagh, Sam Milewski, Sarah O\u2019Conner, Elisa Rodriguez, Sam Seiber, Maddie Seidl <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>Hope Williams <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">were the nine first-year swimmers, while <\/span><b>Jenny Cheetham <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>Katie Conn <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">represented the divers. Conn, Dinch and Milewski all posted perfect 4.0 GPAs in 2017-18, while eight of the 11 freshmen had cumulative GPAs of at least 3.5.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Matt Jarecki<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a junior journalism major, was named one of the top collegiate sportscasters in the nation by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/staatalent.com\/all-america-program\/2018-rankings\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sportscasters Talent Agency of America<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Jarecki placed fifth in the annual Jim Nantz Award, a national contest judged by a panel of professional sportscasters, which earned him the honors. Jarecki works as a sideline reporter and commentator on NAU-TV sports broadcasts and serves as a TV sports anchor for NAZ Today. During the academic year, he hosts a daily sports talk show, \u201cThe Jerk\u201d, on KJACK radio 107.5 FM.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thirty-six\u00a0<\/span>Northern Arizona University <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">student-athletes were placed on the Spring Big Sky All-Academic Team.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Golf: <\/span><b>Carly Akine, Sofia Anokhina, <\/b><b>Sierra Bezdicek, Lexi Keene, Emma Reyes, Loren Skibba<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Men\u2019s Outdoor Track &amp; Field: <\/span><b>Matt Baxter, Carter Bracken, Tyler Day, Blaise Ferro, Steven Hartshorn West, Kyle Havriliak, Lorenzo Johnson, Matthew Kisiel, Ryan Lanley, Obang Odol, Parker Joens, Ryan Wo<\/b><strong>lff<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women\u2019s Outdoor Track &amp; Field: <\/span><b>Brooke Andersen, Margaret Carruth, Tylnn Carter, Pipi Eitel, Jessa Hanson, Tiana Hatler-Stefick, Jada Jackson, Jasmine Malone, Jenna McCaffrey, Helena McLeod, Sara Murray, Dana Padget, Rachel Pott, Delaney Rasmussen, Emily Roughan, Rita Sakharov<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women\u2019s Tennis: <\/span><b>Hanneke Lodewijks, Chiara Tomasetti<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/in-the-student-spotlight-july-6-2018\/\">Kudos to these students Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
