Kyle presented his Space Grant project (mentored by Lisa Prato at Lowell Observatory) on \u201cPlanet Formation around Binary and Multiple Star Systems.\u201d He was recognized by the dean during the CEFNS pre-commencement reception on May 11.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_51571\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-51571\" style=\"width: 198px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/wordpresst\/uploads\/sites\/153\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Unknown-4.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-51571\" src=\"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/wordpresst\/uploads\/sites\/153\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Unknown-4-300x281.jpeg\" alt=\"Team member photo\" width=\"198\" height=\"185\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2018\/06\/Unknown-4-300x281.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2018\/06\/Unknown-4.jpeg 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 198px) 100vw, 198px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-51571\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Madison Lenschow, Ali Alenezi, Riley Deheer, Faisel Alotaibi and Kyle Kraemer<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Madison Lenschow, Ali Alenezi, Riley Deheer, Faisel Alotaibi <\/strong>and<strong> Kyle Kraemer<\/strong>\u2019s senior capstone design project took second place in the Online Rube Goldberg Machine Competition. The competition challenged participants to use random items to build a contraption capable of completing a simple task: in this case, pouring a bowl of cereal. The small team of NAU students performed well as newcomers, beating out several larger, more experienced teams. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rubegoldberg.com\/teams\/the-generals-flagstaff-2018\/\">More information about the project, including\u00a0videos, can be found online.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Astronomy students<strong> Dylan Nicholls, Andrew DeVerse, Ra\u2019Shae Esplin, John Casta\u00f1eda, Yoseph Loyd, Raaman Nair, Robert Voinescu, <\/strong>as well as astronomy professor<strong> John G. Gibbs<\/strong> authored a paper published by the scholarly American Chemical Society online. The paper, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.acs.org\/doi\/10.1021\/acsami.8b01940\">Shape-Dependent Motion of Structured Photoactive Microswimmers<\/a>,\u201d discusses how the movement of structured photoactive microswimmers correlates to particle shape and material composition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/student-spotlight-june-8-2018\/\">Kudos to these\u00a0students Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
