It features a quest for wisdom and enlightenment in order to bring back light to a world banished in darkness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis show is really wonderful for people of all ages and is a great starting point if you haven\u2019t seen an opera before,\u201d said director <strong>Eric Gibson<\/strong>, a professor of practice in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/cal\/music\/\">School of Music<\/a> \u201cIt has quite a few familiar tunes that people will recognize.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gibson says<em>\u00a0<\/em>\u201cThe Magic Flute\u201d\u00a0is \u201cfull of symbolism, especially with the number three, to play around with for fun visuals and costumes.\u201d The production mixes the original German music with English dialogue, creating an experience that adheres to the style and tradition of the original German opera, without sacrificing the accessibility of the English text. A title screen above the stage will translate\u00a0German into English.<\/p>\n<p>The beloved tale is being brought to the to stage with the help of about 100 students. More than 40 students are in the cast, and about 40 play in the live orchestra. Students also are helping behind the scenes in everything from stage design and make-up to attracting audiences through social media.<\/p>\n<p>Performances are at\u00a07:30 p.m.\u00a0on\u00a0April 5, 6 and 7, and at\u00a02:30 p.m.\u00a0on\u00a0April 8. Community members can download a parking pass for the Thursday performance at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/nau.edu\/guest\">nau.edu\/guest<\/a>. Tickets are $22 for adults, $18 for seniors, $10 for NAU employees and $6 for NAU students and children.
