{"id":50455,"date":"2018-02-14T13:39:01","date_gmt":"2018-02-14T20:39:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/?p=50455"},"modified":"2018-02-15T14:19:49","modified_gmt":"2018-02-15T21:19:49","slug":"nau-professor-documentary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/nau-professor-documentary\/","title":{"rendered":"Award-winning documentary on NAU professor to show at Arizona film festivals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The documentary \u201cMy Dad Matthew,\u201d about the life of Northern Arizona University <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/sbs\/ihd\/programs\/disability-studies-minor\/\">disability studies<\/a> professor <strong>Matthew Wangeman, <\/strong>will appear in Flagstaff and Sedona film festivals.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/nau-professor-discusses-his-disability\/\">Since premiering last year at NAU<\/a>, the documentary received an honorable mention at the Picture this\u2026 Film Festival, won the 2017 Cinema Touching Disability Short Film Competition and was selected to show at various film festivals throughout the United States and Canada.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very proud of the documentary,\u201d Wangeman said. \u201cJohn Schaffer did a fantastic in making this short film.\u00a0My son, Elijah, did a wonderful job as well. It was really a team effort to make a short documentary that challenges how people think about disability and life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The documentary will be shown at the Flagstaff Film Festival from 7-9p.m. Feb. 18 at the Orpheum Theater. Tickets are $8.50 per session for adults and $5.50 per session for students with a valid ID. Tickets can be purchased online or in person at the downtown box office, 15 W. Aspen Ave.<\/p>\n<p>The film also will be shown at the Sedona Film Festival from 1-3p.m. Feb. 26, and from 10 a.m.-noon March 4 at Harkins Sedona 6.
