The rankings were based on tuition costs and the availability of financial assistance. Top Master\u2019s in Education is a site dedicated to providing objective rankings, critical reviews, and other resources related to master&#8217;s in education programs.<\/li>\n<li>The TENGA Foundation donated $15,000 to the Northern Arizona University Foundation in support of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/sbs\/communication\/native-american-broadcast-workshop\/\">Andy Harvey Broadcast Journalism workshop<\/a><\/strong><strong>. <\/strong>This program brings 20 Native American high school students from across Arizona and the Southwest to NAU for a week to learn about broadcast journalism while working in the School of Communication\u2019s Media Innovation Center newsroom and HD studio.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jane Howard Turner<\/strong>, a volunteer with NAU\u2019s Foster Grandparent Program, was recently highlighted in <a href=\"https:\/\/issuu.com\/timespub\/docs\/1217_llaf_east\">\u201cLovin\u2019 Life After 50\u201d<\/a>. She works with Catalina Ventura School in the Alhambra Elementary School District. In Arizona, the Foster Grandparent\u2019s Program is directed through <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/SBS\/CSI\/Programs\/Foster-Grandparent\/\">Northern Arizona University\u2019s Civic Service Institute.<\/a> This program allows volunteers like Turner to act as mentors and tutors for children who will benefit from extra attention.<\/li>\n<li>KNAU reporter <strong>Melissa Sevigny\u2019s<\/strong> newest book, \u201cMythical River: Chasing the mirage of new water in the American Southwest,\u201d was selected as the 2018 One Book Yuma. Readers are engaged in a story of the search for new water sources and are left to ponder the similar situation playing out throughout the Southwest. Burdiss completed FEMA\u2019s National Emergency Management Executive Academy. Anderson graduated from the National Emergency Basic Academy. Both men are now better prepared to serve NAU and the citizens of Arizona as leaders in emergency management.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Laura Gray-Rosendale<\/strong>, professor of English and President\u2019s Distinguished Teaching Fellow, just authored a new book, &#8220;Getting Personal: Teaching Personal Writing in the Digital Age.&#8221; It was published by SUNY Press and is being released this week.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/spotlight-jan-11-2018\/\">Kudos to these faculty and staff Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
