{"id":49672,"date":"2017-11-29T12:24:36","date_gmt":"2017-11-29T19:24:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/?p=49672"},"modified":"2017-11-29T15:11:40","modified_gmt":"2017-11-29T22:11:40","slug":"festival-trees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/festival-trees\/","title":{"rendered":"NAU&#8217;s 1899 Bar and Grill holding Festival of Trees to raise money for victims of natural disasters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.1899barandgrill.com\/\">1899 Bar and Grill<\/a> is holding a Festival of Trees to raise money for the victims of natural disasters that have struck North America in recent months.<\/p>\n<p>The restaurant, led by operations director <strong>Gee Gee Basone<\/strong>, is decorated this holiday season with five trees, each decorated by a local \u201ctree artist\u201d and ranging in themes from a \u201cRandom Acts of Kindness\u201d advent tree, with 24 different suggestions counting down until Christmas, to \u201cOld Hollywood Glam\u201d and \u201cTropical Getaway\u201d themed trees.\u00a0The \u201cSugar and Spice\u201d tree, based on a baking theme, boasts an array of cookies and confections representing the sweeter side of the holidays.<\/p>\n<p>The trees were unveiled at an 1899 reception in November and a silent auction is underway, allowing the public to bid on the trees until Dec. 5.\u00a0The bids start at $150 and go up in $50 increments, with all of the proceeds going to Direct Relief, an organization working to provide aid to victims of hurricanes Harvey and Maria, the earthquake in Oaxaca, Mexico, and the California wildfires. Anyone can take part by stopping by the 1899 to check out the trees and place their bid.
