Combining sword fighting and powerful female characters with moments of poignant tragedy and dark humor, the play exemplifies the disastrous effects of useless leadership. Some scenes may not be suitable for younger audiences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough it tells the story of a medieval king, \u2018King John\u2019 provides a mirror to our own world, asking questions about who deserves power and who has the ability to keep it,\u201d director <strong>Christina Gutierrez Dennehy<\/strong> said. \u201cWith each rehearsal, we discover more modern parallels and more ways in which the play speaks directly to American citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thirteen students make up the cast, with about 30 students on the crew, including makeup designer <strong>Jake Harris<\/strong> and sound designer <strong>Adam Visconti<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Northern Arizona University <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/cal\/theatre\/\">Department of Theatre\u2019s<\/a> production of \u201cKing John\u201d will be at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 17, 18, 30, and Dec. 1, 2, with matinee performances at 2 p.m. on Nov. 19 and Dec 3. in the Studio Theater.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and $8 for youth and NAU students.
