{"id":48771,"date":"2017-09-20T16:20:42","date_gmt":"2017-09-20T23:20:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/?p=48771"},"modified":"2017-09-22T08:44:45","modified_gmt":"2017-09-22T15:44:45","slug":"jamf-nau-owned-macs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/jamf-nau-owned-macs\/","title":{"rendered":"ITS introduces Jamf to remotely manage NAU-owned Macs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In order to provide Northern Arizona University with the latest technology, <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/its\/\">Information Technology Services<\/a> will launch a new computer management system.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning Sept. 21, Jamf will be used to remotely manage NAU-owned Macs in conjunction with Microsoft\u2019s System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), which manages NAU-owned Windows machines.<\/p>\n<p>These tools will be used to collect information\u2014hardware specifications, installed applications, operating systems, available updates, security information and login timestamps\u2014that will provide ITS with insights into the status of NAU-owned computers in order to keep campus computers up to date and running smoothly. These tools will not collect any personal information such as browser history, emails or saved documents.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits of Jamf and SCCM:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Software can be deployed and updated remotely.<\/li>\n<li>ITS can better manage security settings to keep devices secure.<\/li>\n<li>Hardware inventory can be collected on NAU-owned computers.<\/li>\n<li>All users can download new software from the Self Service (Macs) and Software Center (Windows) applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Early adopters can <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/its\/services\/jamf-sccm\/\">download the application online.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/jamf-nau-owned-macs\/\">In order to provide Northern Arizona University with the latest technology, Information Technology Services will launch a new computer management system.
