In \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.scientificamerican.com\/observations\/spanish-caves-reveal-a-trove-of-biological-treasures\/\">Spanish Caves Reveal a Trove of Biological Treasures<\/a>,\u201d Wynne recounts how he and his team identified several study sites, collected cave invertebrate specimens and encountered bats or evidence of bats.<\/li>\n<li>NAU&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/ec.nau.edu\/BachelorsDegrees\/InterdisciplinaryStudies-PublicAdministration90-30-136\/\"><strong>public administration bachelor degree<\/strong><\/a> was ranked No. 6 in Affordable College\u2019s list of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.affordablecolleges.com\/rankings\/affordable-online-bachelors-public-administration-degrees\/\">20 Affordable Online Bachelor Degrees in Public Administration<\/a>. The ranking considered 11 data points in financial, student success and program metrics and highlighted the program&#8217;s emphasis on experiential learning that links theory to specific problems and case studies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kate Ellis<\/strong>, associate professor of costume design in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/CAL\/Theatre\/Welcome\/\">Department of Theatre<\/a>, returned to the Tony Award-winning Utah Shakespeare Festival as a costume technologist. Ellis has worked with the company for many years and has been praised for her work with esteemed designers.<\/li>\n<li>NAU\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/coe\/ed-psych\/degrees-programs\/doctoral\/phd-counseling-psychology\/\"><strong>Counseling\/School Psychology<\/strong><\/a> program has been granted initial, on contingency, accreditation by the American Psychological Association Commission on Accreditation. Faculty and staff in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/coe\/ed-psych\/\">Department of Educational Psychology<\/a> have spent nearly two years working toward accreditation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Steven Barger<\/strong>, professor in <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/SBS\/Psych\/\">Psychological Sciences<\/a>, authored an invited commentary from the American Heart Association for Professional Heart Daily. \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/professional.heart.org\/professional\/ScienceNews\/UCM_494871_Improving-Cardiovascular-Health-Through-AHA-Funded-Research.jsp\">Improving Cardiovascular Health Through American Heart Association Funded Research<\/a>\u201d discusses how research sponsors and peer review helps advance the AHA mission by funding research most likely to impact human health.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Northern Arizona University<\/strong> was ranked No. 6 in Best Colleges\u2019 list for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bestcolleges.com\/features\/top-military-friendly-colleges\/\">The 22 Best Military-Friendly Colleges for 2017<\/a>. NAU honors the Department of Defense Tuition Assistance program, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/Military-Veteran-Education\/Veteran-Success-Center\/\">Veteran Success Center<\/a> offers a place for veterans to meet and relax without disruptions.<\/li>\n<li>Times Higher Education ranked <strong>Northern Arizona University<\/strong> in the 401-500 decile for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeshighereducation.com\/world-university-rankings\/northern-arizona-university\">World University Rankings 2018<\/a>.
