{"id":48174,"date":"2017-08-10T09:33:22","date_gmt":"2017-08-10T16:33:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/?p=48174"},"modified":"2017-08-10T09:33:22","modified_gmt":"2017-08-10T16:33:22","slug":"naus-americorps-seeks-arizona-ready-college-career-partner-sites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/naus-americorps-seeks-arizona-ready-college-career-partner-sites\/","title":{"rendered":"NAU&#8217;s AmeriCorps seeks Arizona Ready for College and Career partner sites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Northern Arizona University\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nau.edu\/SBS\/CSI\/AmeriCorps\/\">AmeriCorps<\/a> is seeking local organizations to become Arizona Ready for College and Career (ARCC) partner sites.<\/p>\n<p>A part of NAU\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/nau.edu\/sbs\/csi\/\">Civic Service Institute<\/a>, ARCC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalservice.gov\/programs\/americorps\/join-americorps\/what-americorps\">AmeriCorps is a statewide program<\/a> focused on assisting Arizona high school-aged youth and their families with college and career readiness. The project aims to reach underserved student populations, such as Title 1 schools and low-income communities with on-time high school graduation rates that are below the national average.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are looking for businesses and organizations in the community to connect AmeriCorps members with,\u201d said Mackenzie Kelly, administrative associate in the Civic Service Institute. \u201cThen, we will recruit students and community members to participate in AmeriCorps once we have all the partner sites established.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At a partner institution, AmeriCorps members will provide one-on-one student assistance and mentoring; host FAFSA, scholarship or college application workshops; provide ECAP assistance; and offer family and student engagement on site.<\/p>\n<p>The AmeriCorps member positions are funded by the NAU AmeriCorps grant in combination with the ARCC hosts. AmeriCorps members serve for a year or less and earn a bi-weekly living stipend, professional development and an education award upon completion of service.<\/p>\n<p>Current partners include college access programs, high schools, college departments and community resource centers.
