{"id":48069,"date":"2017-07-20T16:16:51","date_gmt":"2017-07-20T23:16:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/?p=48069"},"modified":"2017-07-20T16:20:10","modified_gmt":"2017-07-20T23:20:10","slug":"skyglow-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/skyglow-event\/","title":{"rendered":"A night with NAU\u2019s Harun Mehmedinovic: Free event celebrating Skyglow Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On July 28, Northern Arizona University professor <strong>Harun Mehmedinovic<\/strong> will share time-lapse night photography and films from 8-10 p.m. at the <a href=\"https:\/\/flagartscouncil.org\/coconino-center-for-the-arts\/about\/\">Coconino Center for the Arts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A look into Mehmedinovic\u2019s Skyglow Project, the night\u2019s visual spectacle will explore the history and mythology of celestial observation, the proliferation of electrical outdoor lighting that spurred the rise of the phenomena known as \u201cskyglow\u201d and the dark-sky movement that\u2019s fighting to reclaim the night skies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStar Trails and Bending Time,\u201d presented by the Flagstaff Dark Skies Coalition, is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted at the door.
