{"id":47114,"date":"2017-04-17T15:31:05","date_gmt":"2017-04-17T22:31:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/?p=47114"},"modified":"2017-04-17T15:31:05","modified_gmt":"2017-04-17T22:31:05","slug":"peter-starcatcher","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/peter-starcatcher\/","title":{"rendered":"NAU Theatre hooks \u2018Peter and the Starcatcher\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Arizona University <a href=\"http:\/\/nau.edu\/cal\/theatre\/\">Department of Theatre<\/a> will capture the audience\u2019s imagination during its production of \u201cPeter and the Starcatcher.\u201d Performances run April 21-30.<\/p>\n<p>The Tony-Award winning play is the story of an unhappy orphan boy who becomes Peter Pan, exploring depths of greed and despair as well as bonds of friendship and faith.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAudiences embark on a hilarious romp on the high seas, through the Neverland they never knew, to the distant island of Mollusk,\u201d said director <strong>Kathleen McGeever<\/strong>, who is the theatre chair. \u201cA dozen actors play a multitude of unforgettable characters and take us on a spectacular journey using the limitless possibilities of imagination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McGeever said NAU is one of the first non-equity productions to get to the rights to \u201cPeter and the Starcatcher.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is an excellent play for our students, the department, community, and in particular, the season we have selected,\u201d she said. \u201cWe ask audiences to consider how faith, religion, science, strength and love helps us understand others. In theatre, we hope to peer into what makes us tick as human beings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Besides actors, nearly 30 students are involved in the crew and assisting stage and costume designers.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and NAU employees and $8 for students and children.
