{"id":46984,"date":"2017-04-12T15:48:29","date_gmt":"2017-04-12T22:48:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/?p=46984"},"modified":"2017-04-12T15:48:29","modified_gmt":"2017-04-12T22:48:29","slug":"swimming-diving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/swimming-diving\/","title":{"rendered":"NAU&#8217;s swimming and diving team members take conference academic honors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ten members of the Lumberjacks\u2019 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nauathletics.com\/sports\/wswimdive\/2016-17\/schedule\">swimming and diving team<\/a> have been named to the 2017 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Winter All-Academic Team.<\/p>\n<p>This adds to the accolades of the Northern Arizona University team, which won its fourth conference championship in March. Also, in January the College Swimming Association of American named the team a Scholar All-America Team, with a fall 2016 team GPA of 3.41.<\/p>\n<p>Those student-athletes named to the All-Academic Team are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Alexa Geiger<\/strong>, senior<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sara Lenhoff<\/strong>, senior<\/li>\n<li><strong>Claire Hammond<\/strong>, junior<\/li>\n<li><strong>Allison Mann<\/strong>, junior<\/li>\n<li><strong>Audrey Mann<\/strong>, junior<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kimmy Richter<\/strong>, junior,<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alina Staffeldt<\/strong>, junior<\/li>\n<li><strong>Logan Neal<\/strong>, sophomore<\/li>\n<li><strong>Andrea Schmidt<\/strong>, sophomore<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sarah Takach<\/strong>, sophomore<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is the fourth time for seniors Geiger and Lenhoff to receive this recognition. Athletes must carry a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA, participate in at least half the team\u2019s contests and complete a full academic year at their institution to be eligible for this award.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur team continues to impress in the classroom,\u201d swimming and diving coach <strong>Andy Johns<\/strong> said. \u201cIt\u2019s always a focus of our program, and it\u2019s a tribute to their academic success.
