Sanchez received his undergraduate degree from NAU and has been working as a research specialist for the <a href=\"http:\/\/nau.edu\/cefns\/forestry\/research\/bats\/\">School of Forestry&#8217;s Bat Ecology &amp; Genetics Lab<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mggen.nau.edu\/\">Pathogen &amp; Microbiome Institute<\/a>. Sanchez will undertake his doctoral research with <strong>Faith Walker<\/strong> and <strong>Carol Chambers<\/strong> in the School of Forestry. His project will use emerging genetic technologies to better understand the diet and population history of the endangered New Mexico meadow jumping mouse for conservation and management of the species. NAU alumni <strong>Yordano Eleazar Jimenez<\/strong> studying at Brown University and<strong> Ricardo Peterson<\/strong> studying at Stanford also received the award.
