{"id":46539,"date":"2017-02-23T10:32:00","date_gmt":"2017-02-23T17:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/?p=46539"},"modified":"2017-02-23T10:32:00","modified_gmt":"2017-02-23T17:32:00","slug":"baltimore-consort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/baltimore-consort\/","title":{"rendered":"Horizon Concert Series brings Shakespearean music to NAU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the\u00a02016-2017 <a href=\"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/horizons-concert-series-2\/\">Horizons Concert Series<\/a>, the\u00a0Baltimore Consort\u00a0will visit NAU\u2019s campus to perform \u201cThe Food of Love\u201d\u2014featuring songs and consort music from Shakespeare\u2019s plays\u2014at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27, in Ashurst Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Called the \u201crambunctious sextet\u201d by <em>Washington Post<\/em>, the Baltimore Consort is known for their lively renditions of Renaissance tunes; their newest program features music of the Elizabethan era. The consort of instruments, which consists of a lute, cittern, viols and flute, will be accompanied by soprano Danielle Svonavec in their performances of the more popular hits from the Bard\u2019s songbook.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1980 to perform the instrumental music of Shakespeare\u2019s time, the Baltimore Consort has explored early English, Scottish and French popular music, focusing on the relationship between folk and art, song and dance.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $20 for adults, $12.50 for seniors and NAU employees and free for children and NAU students with a valid ID.<em>\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/jan.ucc.nau.edu\/cto-p\/\"><strong>Tickets can be purchased online at the\u00a0Center Ticket Office\u2019s webpage<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0or by calling\u00a0(928) 523-5661.<\/p>\n<p>Parking in campus lots P3 (behind Gammage), P8 (north of the College of Education on Knoles Drive) and P4 (ADA stalls near Ashurst) is free for those who plan to attend the Horizons Concert Series.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/nau.edu\/CAL\/Music\/Events\/Horizons\/Baltimore-Consort-Horizons-Concert\/\">More information can be found online.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/baltimore-consort\/\">As part of the\u00a02016-2017 Horizons Concert Series, the\u00a0Baltimore Consort\u00a0will visit NAU\u2019s campus to perform \u201cThe Food of Love\u201d\u2014featuring songs and consort music from Shakespeare\u2019s plays\u2014at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27, in Ashurst Hall.
