The listing\u00a0stated that NAU has been a leader in online learning since it began providing online Bachelor&#8217;s degree programs in 1998\u2014programs which are now ranked among the top in the nation. Courses offered in the program include Healthy Lifestyles, Foundations of Public Health, Human Diseases and Prevention Concepts for Risky Health Behaviors.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Torture&#8221;, an essay published by <strong>Bjorn Krondorfer<\/strong>, director of NAU\u2019s Martin-Springer Institute, was recently published in the book,\u00a0<em>In Losing Trust in the World: Holocaust Scholars Confront Torture<\/em>. In the piece, Krondorfer argues that torture is a political act of coercive violence.<\/li>\n<li>\n<figure id=\"attachment_45928\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-45928\" style=\"width: 237px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/gilbert_20161022_-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-45928 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/gilbert_20161022_-2-237x300.jpg\" alt=\"lighthouse\" width=\"237\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2016\/12\/gilbert_20161022_-2-237x300.jpg 237w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2016\/12\/gilbert_20161022_-2.jpg 712w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 237px) 100vw, 237px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-45928\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo by Russ Gilbert<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Throughout December, <strong>Russ Gilbert<\/strong>, program coordinator for NAU\u2019s School of Communication, will be exhibiting photographic images that document some of the last manned lighthouse stations around the world. The images show the life, work and families of light keeping at some of the most famous, remote and romantic locations before the stations were automated in the 1990&#8217;s. The exhibition can be viewed at Will McNabb\u2019s Fine Jewelry Store located at 18 N. Leroux St. in downtown Flagstaff.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ishmael Munene<\/strong>, associate professor of educational leadership, and Sara Ruto, executive director of Peoples Action Learning Network (PALNetwork), were recently awarded the Lawrence Dunbar Reddick Scholarship Award for the best story written\u00a0about\u00a0Africa.
