Santana Pellicier taught at NAU from 1988 to her retirement as Professor Emeritus in 2010.\u00a0Throughout her career, she<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0delivered presentations about equal opportunity, racism and social justice at local, state and national fora, receiving several state and national awards for her commitment to student development and social justice.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Several faculty in Social Work, affiliated with the Department of Sociology and Social Work in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, have been chosen\u00a0to lead a &#8220;Community Leadership Team&#8221; among nationally selected teams throughout the United States. The community-based project, which will work\u00a0to disseminate a health related resource among tribal communities to reduce risky alcohol use and alcohol exposed pregnancies, will continue through March 2017. \u00a0Project team includes <strong>Jean Balestrery<\/strong>, assistant clinical professor,\u00a0<strong>Natalie Cawood, <\/strong>assistant professor and\u00a0Social Work Program Director\u00a0and Brenda Manthei, clinician at Native Americans for Community Action in Flagstaff.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Shadow Armfield<\/strong>, <strong>Michael Blocher<\/strong>, <strong>Becky Moore<\/strong>, <strong>Karen Sealander<\/strong>, <strong>Laura Sujo-Montes<\/strong>, <strong>Chih-Hsiung Tu<\/strong> along with other\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">faculty in the College of Education&#8217;s Educational Specialties Department, \u00a0<\/span>contributed to a recent journal article, &#8220;Integrate Social Tagging to Build Online Collaborative Learning Community,&#8221; published in the <em>International Journal of Innovation in Education<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/spotlight-nov-3-2016\/\">Kudos to these faculty, staff and students Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
