A discussion of what was found will directly follow and\u00a0refreshments will be served.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><strong>Theater of the Oppressed: Reimagining Disability<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 13<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Health and Learning Center,\u00a0room 2403<\/em><br \/>\nThe unique play reimagines a society that is much more open\u00a0and accommodating to the needs of people with disabilities\u00a0in a\u00a0world that truly values people of all\u00a0abilities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><strong>Dismantling (Dis)Ability: The Role of Media in\u00a0Constructing and Combating Representations<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 18<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Communications Building, room 242<br \/>\n<\/em>Join the NAU Debate Team as they explore topics of\u00a0disability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><strong>A conversation about disability: Everything you\u00a0always wanted to know but were afraid to ask<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19<\/em><br \/>\n<em>University Union<br \/>\n<\/em>Join NAU instructor <strong>Matthew Wangeman<\/strong> and<strong> John\u00a0McDermott<\/strong> of the Institute for Human Development as they\u00a0answer everything you\u2019ve always wanted to know about\u00a0disability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><strong>Why representation matters: Disability in the\u00a0news and entertainment media<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>4:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Student and Academic Services Auditorium<br \/>\n<\/em>Join disability studies scholar Beth Haller as she discusses\u00a0how the representation of disabilities by the media works to\u00a0shape how we see individuals with disabilities. Haller\u00a0is Professor of Mass Communication at Towson University\u00a0who\u00a0has been researching the portrayal of disability in news and entertainment media since 1991.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><strong>Grand opening of the accessible, all gender\u00a0restroom in Cline Library<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>4-6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Cline Library<br \/>\n<\/em>The\u00a0ribbon\u00a0cutting will be held at 4 p.m. with a reception in Cline room 200 directly following.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><strong>Screening of CinemAbility<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26<br \/>\nCline Library Auditorium<br \/>\n<\/em>The documentary takes a detailed look at the\u00a0evolution of \u201cdisability\u201d in entertainment by going behind\u00a0the scenes to interview filmmakers, studio executives, film historians and celebrities. A question and answer session will follow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><strong>Sitting Volleyball Tournament<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>7-9 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 27<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Health and Learning Center<\/em><br \/>\nJoin Campus Recreation, the Commission on Disability Access and Design, NAU 4 All and Disability Resources for\u00a0a community-wide\u00a0sitting volleyball tournament.\u00a0Teams will be four to six players.
