The 2016 festival, The Science of Change, brings 10 days of free, family-friendly fun to the city with several events on the Northern Arizona University campus.<\/p>\n<p>Explorers of all ages are invited to join in during\u00a0the 2016 festival from Sept. 23 through\u00a0Oct. 2, featuring more than\u00a0100 free events around\u00a0Flagstaff.<\/p>\n<p>The festival kicks off with a\u00a0keynote presentation at 7 p.m. on Friday,\u00a0Sept. 23, in NAU&#8217;s\u00a0Ardrey Memorial Auditorium, building 37A. This year\u2019s keynote speaker is Will Steger, Polar Explorer. The audience will get a glimpse into Steger&#8217;s travels by dogsled, kayak and kite skis to the most remote places on Earth through eyewitness accounts. Tickets are free and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. They may also be picked up in advance through the\u00a0<a href=\"..\/..\/..\/Applications\/Microsoft%20Office%202011\/Microsoft%20Word.app\/Contents\/nau.edu\/cto\">NAU Central Ticket Office<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The annual NAU Science and Engineering Day will take place from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, in\u00a0Science and Health, building 36, on the\u00a0Flagstaff campus. This event promises exploration into the world of drones, 3D printing, wind and water energy, and more. Free\u00a0parking is available in lot P13 behind Cline Library with shuttle service to the building.<\/p>\n<p>The Campus Sky Viewing event will take place from 7:30-10 p.m. Sept. 23 and 24 as well as Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. Attendees\u00a0will have the opportunity to explore the universe through the Barry Lutz telescope on campus.<\/p>\n<p>The VPR Research Innovation Series features all NAU professors in the 2016 lineup. The talks will be offered at 6:30 p.m. in Cline Library.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monday, Sept. 26 |\u00a0<em><em>Beyond the Grass\u00a0<i>Roots <\/i><\/em><\/em><em>&#8211;<\/em>\u00a0Regents&#8217; Professor\u00a0<strong>Nancy Johnson<\/strong> will explore\u00a0wild and diverse communities of soil organisms that live right below your feet.<\/li>\n<li>Wednesday, Sept. 28 | <em>Regenerative<\/em>\u00a0<em>Medicine: Replacement Skin &#8211; <\/em>Associate Professor\u00a0<strong>Robert Kellar\u00a0<\/strong>will present research from recent discoveries related to the development of artificial skin.<\/li>\n<li>Thursday, Sept. 29\u00a0|\u00a0<em>Hearing Loss: Discovering New Therapies &#8211;\u00a0<\/em>Assistant Professor\u00a0<strong>O\u2019neil Guthrie <\/strong>will discuss the biology behind hearing loss and hearing disorders as well as how research being done at NAU promises to restore hearing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/nau.edu\/uploadedFiles\/Administrative\/EMSA_Sites\/Parking-Shuttle_Services\/Approved%20map%20Front%20and%20Back.pdf\">View a map of NAU&#8217;s campus online<\/a>.
