{"id":4492,"date":"2012-02-21T16:08:52","date_gmt":"2012-02-21T23:08:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=4492"},"modified":"2012-11-08T14:32:35","modified_gmt":"2012-11-08T21:32:35","slug":"nau-president-haeger-agrees-to-two-year-contract-extension","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/nau-president-haeger-agrees-to-two-year-contract-extension\/","title":{"rendered":"NAU President Haeger agrees to two-year contract extension"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NAU President\u00a0<strong>John Haeger<\/strong>\u00a0and the Arizona Board of Regents have announced a two-year extension to his contract, which will keep him as head of the university through June 2015.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorking together with regents, faculty, staff and government leaders, we have moved this university forward in many ways, and I look forward to completing some important projects that we already have started,\u201d Haeger said, referring to a variety of student success initiatives that NAU began last year.<\/p>\n<p>The regents announced Haeger\u2019s new contract during a special board meeting today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Haeger has guided NAU to unprecedented gains in access and affordability for Arizona students throughout the state,\u201d said\u00a0<strong>Bob McLendon<\/strong>, chair of the Board of Regents. \u201cAn extended contract will assure leadership continuity as we work toward aggressive system goals of increasing degree attainment and expanding research activities to enhance the state\u2019s economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Regent\u00a0<strong>Ernest Calder\u00f3n<\/strong>, ABOR Resources Committee chair, former board president and NAU alumnus, said, \u201cJohn Haeger has done an extraordinary job in redesigning and invigorating Northern Arizona University. NAU is now a vibrant and dynamic leader in higher education.\u00a0I appreciate John accepting our request that he postpone his retirement and continue to provide stability in the face of uncertain challenges ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During Haeger\u2019s decade as NAU president, the university has experienced unprecedented enrollment growth in Flagstaff and across the state. The campus also has been witness to a dramatic infrastructure expansion, with new and renovated buildings that better serve students while promoting the university\u2019s commitment to energy efficiency.
