{"id":44871,"date":"2016-08-25T13:19:34","date_gmt":"2016-08-25T20:19:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=44871"},"modified":"2016-08-25T13:19:34","modified_gmt":"2016-08-25T20:19:34","slug":"nau-welcomes-new-returning-lumberjacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/nau-welcomes-new-returning-lumberjacks\/","title":{"rendered":"NAU welcomes new and returning Lumberjacks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With classes starting Monday, Aug. 29, Northern Arizona University&#8217;s Flagstaff campus is abuzz as\u00a0new and returning students arrive in Lumberjack Country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Each fall semester brings energy, anticipation and promise,&#8221; NAU President <strong>Rita Cheng<\/strong> said. &#8220;You can&#8217;t help but feel the excitement from our Lumberjacks as you walk around campus.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>NAU&#8217;s incoming students facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enrollment for the fall semester is expected to exceed 30,000 total students\u00a0online and at all\u00a0campuses across\u00a0the state.<\/li>\n<li>There are nearly 8,000\u00a0new students to NAU statewide and online, which includes approximately 5,550 new freshmen,\u00a01,500\u00a0transfer students and 700 new graduate students.<\/li>\n<li>400+ Welcome Jacks, including students from fraternity and sorority life and other organizations, assist new students with move-in.<\/li>\n<li>With 90 percent of\u00a0freshmen currently living on campus, NAU is in the top 1 percent in the nation for total on-campus housing capacity&#8211;with more new student housing on the horizon.
