The article offers an alternative way of conceptualizing school choice that is more applicable to indigenous communities and that has yet to be articulated in the literature.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Bradley Butterfield<\/b>, assistant research professor and Merriam-Powell Center affiliate, had an article titled \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1111\/rec.12381\/abstract\"><span class=\"s2\">Prestoration: Using Species in Restoration That Will Persist Now and Into the Future<\/span><\/a>\u201d published in <i>Restoration Ecology<\/i>. The article proposes a new strategy for restoring ecosystems that anticipates the impacts of global change and selects species for restoration that can thrive in future conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>NAU students and staff are involved in the production of Flagstaff\u2019s Alpine Community Theater\u2019s \u201cMary Poppins: The Broadway Musical.\u201d Undergraduate <strong>Casey Garcia<\/strong> is playing the role of Mary Poppins and alumna <strong>Emily Lawhead<\/strong> is the assistant music director and conductor for the show. Employees <strong>Lynn Jones<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Benjamin Garcia<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kathy Weinzinger<\/strong>, <strong>Tammy Newbury <\/strong>and <strong>Tammy Jones<\/strong> have also been volunteering with the show. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.actflagstaff.com\/\">theatrical production<\/a> can be seen the first two weekends of June.<\/li>\n<li><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-44146\" src=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/NAU-Archery-Club.jpg\" alt=\"NAU Archery \" width=\"428\" height=\"315\" srcset=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2016\/05\/NAU-Archery-Club.jpg 476w, https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/402\/2016\/05\/NAU-Archery-Club-300x221.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 428px) 100vw, 428px\" \/>NAU Archery Club<\/strong> placed third overall at the <a href=\"http:\/\/uscamail.com\/index.php\/events\/tournament-results\">2016 Intercollegiate Archery Championships<\/a> held in Chula Vista, Calif. The team, led by coach <strong>Drew Ned<\/strong>, received three gold, three silver and one bronze medal. The team also produced eight All-Americans, two All-Academic honors and two best new archers. The following members received individual honors:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Paeton Keller<\/strong>, All-American, All-Academic, Compound Men&#8217;s National Champion<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reuben Kee<\/strong>, All-American, Recurve Men National Champion<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tayler Stevens<\/strong>,All-American, All-Academic, Silver Women\u2019s Bowhunter<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kyle Jarpe<\/strong>, All-American, Silver Men&#8217;s Basic Bow<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lizzy Satran<\/strong>, Best New Archer Women Bowhunter<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thomas Sullivan<\/strong>,\u00a0All-American, Best New Archer Basic Bow<\/li>\n<li><strong>Samantha Yessilth<\/strong>, All-American<\/li>\n<li><strong>David McNealy<\/strong>, All-American<\/li>\n<li><strong>Austin Wimsatt<\/strong>, All-American<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/spotlight-june-1-2016\/\">Kudos to these faculty, staff and students Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
