The announcement was made last week\u00a0by NAU President <strong>Rita Cheng<\/strong>, concluding a national search.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMichelle is an outstanding attorney with a keen understanding of higher education and Arizona law,\u201d Cheng said. \u201cShe is a valuable resource to faculty and staff, and will be an even greater asset in her new role.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Parker joined NAU in\u00a02010 as associate general counsel. Prior to joining the university, she served as outside counsel for several higher education institutions including Arizona State University.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I can think of no higher honor than to serve as NAU\u2019s general counsel, and I look forward to continuing to forge strong working relationships with colleagues across the institution,&#8221; Parker said. &#8220;It is a personal goal to ensure that the campus community is aware that I am\u00a0here to help find solutions and work with them to help achieve their business objectives.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Parker earned her bachelor&#8217;s and\u00a0master&#8217;s degrees in English and her juris doctorate\u00a0from Arizona State University.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/michelle-parker-legal-affairs\/\">Michelle Parker has been selected as general counsel for Legal Affairs at Northern Arizona University.
