Sexton<\/strong>, Regents\u2019 professor emeritus, published a new book titled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayaguate.com.\/AnAnthropologistGoesToTheVietnamWarBig.htm\"><em>An Anthropologist Goes to the Vietnam War<\/em><\/a>. Part I of the book is based on Sexton\u2019s service in the U.S. Army from 1968-69. Parts II and III find Sexton returning to\u00a0Vietnam\u00a0with his wife in 2004 and 2008 to observe changes since the war. Maps, photographs, notes and an appendix supplement the text and an epilogue\u00a0updates significant events. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Anthropologist-Goes-Vietnam-War\/dp\/1523735864\/ref=sr_1_sc_1?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1462945200&amp;sr=1-1-spell&amp;keywords=an+anthroplogist+goes+to+war\">The book is available online.<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Eric V. Meeks, <\/strong>associate professor of history, has been named <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smu.edu\/Dedman\/Academics\/InstitutesCenters\/swcenter\/Fellowships\/Fellows%202016-2017\">the Bill &amp; Rita Clements Senior Fellow for the Study of Southwestern America<\/a> at the William P. Clements Center for Southwest Studies at Southern Methodist University. The fellowship is designed to provide time for senior scholars to bring book-length manuscripts to completion. Through the fellowship, Meeks will continue his work titled \u201cThe U.S.-Mexico Borderlands: A Transnational History.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><b>Jim Wilce<\/b>, professor of anthropology, is part of a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rte.ie\/lyricfm\/the-lyric-feature\/programmes\/2016\/0129\/764013-the-lyric-feature-friday-29-january-2016\/?clipid=2087734#2087734\">radio documentary<\/a> called &#8220;<i>Sounds of Grief<\/i>.&#8221; The documentary examines the traditions of laments, including keening and ritual wailing. The team\u2014under the mentorship of\u00a0<strong>Steven Jacobs<\/strong>,\u00a0computer science professor, and <strong>Bjorn Krondorfer<\/strong>, director of the Martin-Springer Institute\u2014launched an educational website <a href=\"http:\/\/bedzinexhibit.org\/\">The Bedzin Exhibit<\/a> that follows the stories of young people in the Jewish ghetto of Bedzin, Poland, before, during and after the Holocaust. <a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/holocaust-exhibit-now-online\/#.VzNb4RUrKL5\">The site<\/a> supports and enriches the traveling exhibit \u201cThrough the Eyes of Youth: Life and Death in the Bedzin Ghetto.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sarah Eddings<\/strong>, graduate student in the master\u2019s in English Literature program, has published an article titled &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mythsoc.org\/mythlore\/mythlore-128\/\">The Use of the Vertical Plane to Indicate Holiness in C.S. Lewis\u2019s Space Trilogy<\/a>&#8221; in <em>Mythlore<\/em>, a peer-reviewed journal devoted to the study of mythopoeic literature.<\/li>\n<li>NAU student\u00a0<strong>Kristen Tallis<\/strong> participated in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nativeamericanfitnesscouncil.com\/\">Native American Fitness Council<\/a> Fitness Week earlier this month. Tallis attended alongside fitness leaders representing tribes from Alaska, California, Montana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Michigan, Florida, Maine and Washington.
