An extensive renovation will bring a modern look, more variety and a distinctly student union feel to the du Bois Center on south campus.<\/p>\n
The project includes a makeover of both the residential dining hall and multiple retail dining locations as well as changes to the building’s conference rooms and public space. The Learning Resource Center, currently in nearby building 61, will also be relocated there.<\/p>\n
The residential dining hall will feature seven new neighborhood restaurants dedicated to fresh and health eating, allergy-free options and overall enhanced menus. The retail dining area will open with Subway; Einstein’s Bagels supplemented with Caribou Coffee; and a new concept to campus, Qdoba Mexican Eats. The ever-popular \u201cCoupe\u201d wing restaurant will be moving locations this summer to accommodate the new project and can be found at the Suites Market in fall of 2017.<\/p>\n
Work will begin in late June. All retail dining options will be open by spring 2017, along with an expanded kitchen for the DuB. A completely refurbished dining area will open in\u00a0August 2017. Food service will be available throughout the renovation, except during normal closures, such as over winter break.<\/p>\n
A redesign of entrances and interior spaces is intended to create an open, contemporary environment and also make the buildings more accessible.<\/p>\n
A separate project will create the Information Technology Services South Node, which will host a student technology center and about 13 full-time ITS professionals in the du Bois basement.\u00a0The student technology center will offer space for repairing and rebooting computers for students and faculty.<\/p>\n
