The exhibit \u201cWater and Ice\u201d will run April 9 through\u00a0May 31 and includes Horn\u2019s detailed images of water and ice and Croft\u2019s travels to Iceland. Brandy\u2019s Restaurant is located at 1500 E. Cedar Ave.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Northern Arizona University<\/strong>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.nau.edu\/BachelorsDegrees\/ComputerInformationTechnologyBA-216\/\">Computer Information Technology bachelor\u2019s degree<\/a> was ranked among the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.collegechoice.net\/rankings\/best-online-bachelors-in-information-technology-2016\/\">Best Online Bachelor\u2019s in Information Technology Programs<\/a> by College Choice. Rankings were based on academic reputation, overall cost and success of graduates in the post-college job market.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shari Miller<\/strong>, compliance director for state authorization, was recently selected to serve on the\u00a0Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/wcet.wiche.edu\/about\/who-we-are\/leadership\/steering-committee\">Cooperative for Educational Technologies Steering Committee<\/a>. The<a href=\"http:\/\/wcet.wiche.edu\/\"> organization<\/a>\u00a0is a leader in the practice, policy and advocacy of technology-enhanced learning in higher education. As a committee member, Miller will help select activities and programming for the coming year in the following areas: emerging technologies, faculty success, policy and regulations, managing e-learning and student success.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lori Poloni-Staudinger<\/strong>, department chair and associate professor of politics and international affairs, contributed to a political analysis article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/monkey-cage\/wp\/2016\/04\/11\/in-6-graphs-heres-why-young-women-dont-support-hillary-clinton-as-much-as-older-women-do\/\">&#8220;In 6 graphs, here\u2019s why young women don\u2019t support Hillary Clinton as much as older women do&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0published in the <em>Washington Post<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stephen Nu\u00f1o<\/strong>,\u00a0associate professor of politics and international affairs, had an opinion piece <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/roomfordebate\/2016\/03\/15\/can-rubios-exit-stop-trump\/rubio-was-the-last-best-hope-for-a-gop-appeal-to-latinos\">&#8220;Rubio Was the Last Best Hope for a G.O.P. Appeal to Latinos,&#8221;<\/a> published by the\u00a0<em>New York Times<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>\n<figure id=\"attachment_42990\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-42990\" style=\"width: 206px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-42990\" src=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Axecidentals-1-e1460484605743-1024x964.jpeg\" alt=\"Axecidentals\" width=\"206\" height=\"184\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-42990\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">NAU Axecidentals took second place in the Southwest Semifinal of the International Competition for Collegiate A Cappella.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <strong>NAU Axecidentals<\/strong>, an all-female a cappella group, won second place in the Southwest Semifinal of the International Competition for Collegiate A Cappella on April 3 at the University of California Los Angeles.\u00a0As runner-up in the 2016 ICCA Southwest Semifinal, the Axecidentals are now eligible to apply to the wild-card round to advance to the ICCA International Finals on April 30 at the Beacon Theater in New York City.\u00a0During the semifinal competition, the judges awarded <strong>Aaliyah Bancod<\/strong>, student president of the Axecidentals, the title of \u201cOutstanding Soloist\u201d for her <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/fnY6Dwb3FeA\">vocals<\/a> on Kelly Clarkson\u2019s \u201cInvincible.\u201d\u00a0The judges also presented the award for best arrangement to the Axecidentals for its <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/hCC_ay40cRo\">mash-up<\/a> of Jessie J\u2019s \u201cAbracadabra\u201d with Ariana Grande\u2019s \u201cOnly One.\u201d View video of the performances on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCjJRO__jBwJe8S4FtZy4oLQ?nohtml5=False\">NAU Axecidentals YouTube page<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lorna Louise Thurston<\/strong>, master of applied geospatial sciences student, won the Best Performance of a Senior Arctic Official award at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uaf.edu\/mac\/\">Model Arctic Council<\/a>, an experimental learning exercise that brings students together to simulate the roles of members of the Arctic Council. As a senior official Thurston prepared a position paper, delivered two speeches and contributed to discussions on shipping activity and fisheries management, cruise ship tourism, reducing the incidence of suicide amongst indigenous groups and providing safe and affordable access to running water and sewer in the Arctic.
